Storm return to action in road game against Buccaneers

URBANDALE, IA – The Tri-City Storm return to action tonight in a road game against the Des Moines Buccaneers following a 7-4 home win over the Sioux Falls Stampede on Saturday, March 20th. Tonight's game will be the first game of a three-game road trip for the Storm. Tri-City also will battle Sioux Falls tomorrow and Saturday. Tonight's matchup between the Storm and the Buccaneers at Buccaneer Arena is scheduled to begin at 6:30pm CT. 

Tri-City (25-13-2-1) travels to Urbandale, IA and Sioux Falls, SD this week for matchups against the Des Moines Buccaneers and Sioux Falls Stampede as the 2nd place team in the USHL's Western Conference standings. Tonight's game against Des Moines will be only the second meeting of the season between the Storm and the Buccaneers. Tri-City dropped a 4-2 decision to Des Moines at Wells Fargo Arena on December 15th. Des Moines was using Wells Fargo Arena as a temporary home venue at the time but has now returned to playing home games exclusively at Buccaneer Arena. Tonight's game for Tri-City will be the teams' first at Buccaneer Arena since January 4th, 2020. Four hundred and fifty-three days ago, the Storm defeated the Buccaneers in Urbandale, IA by a final score of 5-3. Tonight's game is the second game of this year's six-game season series between the Storm and the Buccaneers. Following this week's three-game road series, Tri-City returns home on Saturday, April 10th. "Pucks n' Paws Night" is the promotion for the game on April 10th. Des Moines (22-14-4-0) hosts Tri-City tonight at Buccaneer Arena following a 5-3 home loss to the Waterloo Black Hawks on Saturday, March 20th. Zach Urdahl (2), and Simon Mack scored Des Moines' goals in the loss. Derek Mullahy recorded the loss in net after making nineteen saves on twenty-four shots. The Buccaneers have outscored opponents 133-116 this season and hold a 6-3-1-0 record over the last ten games. Alex Laferriere (20), Zach Urdahl (20), Matt Choupani (17), Lucas Mercuri (12), Tanner Latsch (11), Zach Faremouth (10), Zakary Karpa (8), and Paul Davey (8) lead the Buccaneers in goals scored this season entering tonight's home game. The Buccaneers will visit the Viaero Center for three consecutive games April 16th-18th. Following tonight's home game against the Storm, Des Moines will complete a three-game week with a home and home series against the Waterloo Black Hawks. The Buccaneers will host the Black Hawks tomorrow night before traveling to Young Arena for a road game against Waterloo on Saturday.
